Downstairs was founded in 2003 by Magnus Bernåker, inspired by the American model where household services are delivered with the same care you would expect at a well-run hotel. Since then we have done one thing: looked after homes in western Gothenburg.
It began with our first store in Gothenburg in 2003. Today we are a service company with our own laundry, tailoring workshop and shoe repair, and teams working in hundreds of homes every week. We wanted to become genuinely good at one thing, in one place: looking after homes in western Gothenburg. We get better for every year we stay.
We own the links that matter in your home: the laundry, the tailoring workshop in the store, the service vehicles and the teams. Subcontractors never work in your home. That is why we can stand behind the result rather than pass it on.
We believe service is delivered by people to people. That is why we invest in our employees as much as in the quality of what we do: permanently employed staff, fixed teams of two, and the same faces in your home over time. When people are well at work, it shows in your home.
At Krogabäcksvägen 12 in Hovås there is a physical store where you can come, drop things off and meet us. This is where our teams set out from every day, and where you bring laundry, garments and shoes.
Opening hours: weekdays 07–18, Saturdays 10–15, Sundays closed.
