We only collect what we need to do our work, and we never sell your information. This is exactly what that means.
Downstairs Service AB, company registration number 559008-2029, Hedtångsvägen 8, 1 tr, 436 53 Hovås, is the data controller for the processing of your personal data. If you have questions about how we handle your information, email info@downstairs.se or call 031-721 96 60.
This is a translation of our Swedish privacy policy. If the two versions differ, the Swedish version applies.
We collect your name, phone number, email address, address and what you write in the form yourself. The information is used to reply to you, book the visit and give a price indication. The legal basis is the performance of a contract, or legitimate interest in the case of an enquiry that has not yet led to a contract.
When you have sent a form, you receive an automatic confirmation email from info@downstairs.se so that you know it has arrived. The email is sent through our supplier Resend.
When you send a form, Cloudflare Turnstile checks that it is a person sending it. This happens without you having to do anything. We do it on the basis of our legitimate interest in protecting the forms against automated submissions. Cloudflare also uses the information to improve its own bot detection and is then responsible for that part itself. Read more in Cloudflare's policy for Turnstile.
Incomplete bookings. If you fill in your contact details in the booking guide and continue, but do not send the booking, we keep the information for up to 30 days so that we can contact you once and help you complete it. The legal basis is our legitimate interest in being able to complete bookings that have been started. If you do not want to be contacted, email info@downstairs.se and we will erase the information immediately. Before we save anything about you, we ask you to confirm that you have read this policy, by ticking the box beside the contact details. Without it we save nothing.
To carry out the work, we process contact details, address, information about your home that is necessary for the assignment and, where applicable, keys and alarm codes. For the RUT tax deduction we always need your Swedish personal identity number, which we pass on to the Swedish Tax Agency (Skatteverket) in accordance with the rules on household services. Invoicing records are kept in accordance with the Swedish Bookkeeping Act (bokföringslagen).
The legal basis for the information about you and your home is the contract with you. For the personal identity number and what we provide to the Swedish Tax Agency, the basis is a legal obligation under the rules on household services, and for invoicing records a legal obligation under the Bookkeeping Act. The Swedish Tax Agency requires the buyer's personal identity number to pay out the RUT tax deduction, and we therefore cannot give you the deduction without it. We use the personal identity number only for that, and for the credit assessment before invoicing.
Before we invoice, we carry out a credit assessment. The legal basis is our legitimate interest in knowing that an invoice can be paid. The credit report is obtained from Creditsafe or Preventia Finans, which, under the Swedish Credit Information Act (kreditupplysningslagen), send you a copy when information about you has been disclosed. If you do not pay on time, we handle reminders ourselves and then pass the matter to a debt collection agency.
If something is damaged, or something differs from what we agreed, we document it with photos or video so that we can assess and settle the matter. The legal basis is our legitimate interest in being able to handle damage and complaint cases. The material is kept until the case is closed, for no longer than three months.
We process the information you provide in your application in order to assess and respond to it. Information about applicants who are not employed is kept for 24 months and then erased, unless you have consented to us keeping it longer. The period follows the two-year time limit in the Swedish Discrimination Act (diskrimineringslagen), so that we can answer a question about how a selection was made. The legal basis is our legitimate interest in recruiting and, for storage after the recruitment has ended, our legitimate interest in being able to respond to claims within the time the Discrimination Act allows.
If you have given us your consent, we keep the application for up to 36 months so that we can contact you about future recruitment. You can withdraw your consent at any time by emailing info@downstairs.se, and we will then erase the application.
As our customer, you may receive offers and news by email or text message about our own services. The legal basis is our legitimate interest in marketing ourselves to existing customers. You can decline at any time, through the link in the message or by contacting us, and we will then stop sending them without you having to give a reason.

For shoe repairs and certain rugs we work with partners, who then only receive the information required for that specific work.
Hushållstvätt i Göteborg AB, Downstairs i Hovås AB and Downstairs Clean AB are subsidiaries of Downstairs Service AB. They carry out parts of the service, laundry and cleaning, and therefore receive the information needed to do so, for example address, key instructions and what needs to be done. Some of the suppliers we use are American companies, and information may therefore be processed in the USA. This applies to Google (web statistics and advertising measurement, after consent), Meta (advertising measurement, after consent), Netlify (hosting of the website), Airtable (storage of enquiries and bookings from our forms) and Resend (sending of confirmation and notification emails) and Cloudflare (protecting our forms against automated submissions).
The transfer is based on the European Commission's decision on the EU-US Data Privacy Framework for the suppliers certified under it, and otherwise on the European Commission's standard contractual clauses together with supplementary safeguards. We have data processing agreements with all of them.
If you would like to know which basis applies to a particular supplier, or receive a copy of the safeguards we use, email info@downstairs.se.
You have the right to request a copy of the information we hold about you, to have incorrect information corrected, to have information erased when we no longer have grounds to process it, to object to processing based on legitimate interest, and to request restriction of processing. You also have the right to data portability where the processing is based on a contract or consent.
Contact us at info@downstairs.se and we will help you. If you are not satisfied with how we handle your information, you have the right to lodge a complaint with the Swedish Authority for Privacy Protection (IMY).
We protect your information with technical and organisational measures, and only the employees who need the information for their work have access to it. Keys and codes are handled according to a documented routine.
