Simple tips that make your favorite garments last longer!
Extending the life of your favorite garments doesn’t have to be neither difficult, expensive nor time consuming! The only thing is needed is a few changes in your routine and little extra love.
Here are some smart tips that will give your garments a longer life!
Wool & Cashmere
Do you wear wool and cashmere garments and wonder how to take care of them?
It can be tricky to wash garments made from these materials. But here are some tips:
A garment made of wool and cashmere doesn’t need to be washed so often if you are good at airing out the garment after each use. When you do need to wash the garments, they should be washed carefully without fat-dissolving detergents. This way the wool keeps its natural fats.
Remember to dry the garments flat so they don’t lose their form and then fold them in the wardrobe, don’t leave them hanging on a hanger. This applies to all your knitwear!
If you still feel unsure about washing your wool and cashmere garments and you want professional help, we recommend you to dry clean them!

The shirt
To preserve the lifespan of your shirt and avoid wear and tear, you shouldn’t wash it too often. Your shirt can actually be worn several times without being washed, as long as you air it out carefully.
With that said, it should of course be washed occasionally. Think about turning the shirt inside out and unbuttoning all buttons for better results.
Then let the shirt air dry with the top button buttoned. If you hang it nicely from the start, you may even not have to iron it, think of the time you save!
Another smart tip! Do you often lose your buttons on your shirt? Paint them! Use transparent nail polish so the threads stay on.
Do you want to be sure that the shirt doesn’t shrink or change color, or maybe you simply don’t have time to wash it? Then you can always send it to the dry cleaners!

The suit
To make your favorite suit last a long time, there are a few tricks you can consider:
Do you usually put your cell phone in your suit pocket? Don’t do that! Avoid putting heavy things in your pockets. This will cause the jacket to lose its shape and in the end it gets a bad form.
Another tip is to use the right hanger for the right jacket. The hanger should have the right size, meaning it should be wide enough to cover the jacket’s shoulder seam.
If the suit has already lost its shape, a tip is to take it to a tailor to make it fit nicely again!
Air the jacket after each use and steam it if you have the opportunity.
If an accident happens and you get a stain on the jacket, we recommend that you take it to the dry cleaners to maintain the quality.

The Raincoat
Has your raincoat gotten dirty?
In some cases, it may just be a small stain that you can easily rinse off with water.
But if you need to freshen up the garment and wash it in the washing machine, there are a few rules you should know:
Never wash your waterproof garments with fabric softener. This can destroy the waterproof material of the garment. Instead, use only detergent, preferably appropriate for waterproof garments.
Dry the garments on a hanger or on a clothesline and not in the dryer machine.
However, has your garment got a tougher stain that cannot be removed?
Then the best option is to take it to the dry cleaners!
